Build-a-Band (ages 7-16) with instructor Wes: July M, W, F
This is a stage 2 intermediate class intended for students with previous experience singing or playing an instrument in a band. Students in this class will work together to build their own multi-instrument ensemble. The class emphasizes creating music collaboratively with bandmates and addresses composition and arrangement, band dynamics, rehearsal techniques, and performance. All instruments and voice types are welcome, and all students that meet the age and experience requirements are encouraged to join this one-of-a-kind class!
Contemporary Choreography Camp (ages 7-12) with instructor Azalie: July 1 – July 3
Come make a dance! Students will be learning new moves, tempo, technique, and fun games to help build memorization and creativity. They will be focusing on finding their personal style within dance as they learn all the steps that go into choreography. By the end of the camp, each student will have choreographed their own section of a dance! Contemporary is all about feeling, so if you like slow or dramatic movements, get ready to sign up!
Disney Villains: A Musical Revue (ages 7-14) with instructor Anya: July 8 – July 12
Unleash your inner evil! This workshop will delve into the art of embodying Disney villains. Participants will master the essence of characters such as Ursula, Scar, and Mother Gothel, learning their mannerisms and speech. Each student will select a villain and showcase their performance by singing their iconic villain song. Additionally, they’ll have the chance to join in as backup singers and dancers for other villains. There will be a performance for families on Friday, July 12.
Theatre Exploration (ages 5-6) with instructor Anya: July 15 – July 19
Step into the realm of Storytelling Silliness! Join us for an immersive half-day camp experience where your child will embark on a theatrical journey, exploring everything from performance to prop crafting. From singing and dancing to tunes from beloved musicals to designing whimsical costumes, this week-long adventure promises endless fun and creativity. There will be a performance for families on Friday, July 19. Watch their storytelling spark, ignite, and flourish!
Theatre Design: Sets, Props, and Costumes (ages 7-14) with instructor Anya: July 15 – July 19
Empower your students with a journey into technical theater design! This program invites them to explore the intricacies of stagecraft by conceptualizing sets for live adaptations of beloved tales, bringing their imaginations to life through model-making. In partnership with Cathedral Park Arts’ performance workshops (“Willy Wonka” and “Choose Your Own Adventure”), participants will also craft props and costumes.
Choose Your Own Adventure Camp (ages 8-14) with instructor Victoria: July 15 – July 19
A week-long theatre camp for those who love adventure and telling stories. Together, we will create a play using our most valuable tool– our imagination. This week-long camp will be filled with games, improvisation, character creation, world building, and fun! We will learn the basics of storytelling and work together to create our own original play. The camp will end with a final performance of the piece created. Come join in the fun!
