RANDY PUGH, ACTING & IMPROV TEACHER
Q: Do you have any pets? If so, what and who are they?
A: I grew up with lots of dogs and cats. My favorite was a golden retriever who would dive underwater and bring rocks up on the shore. My mother named her “Muffy.”
Q: What is your favorite color?
A: My favorite color changes all the time, sometimes with the seasons. But I always come back to a combination of blue and green, like the sky, water and forests in this beautiful part of the world we call home.
Q: Where were you born?
A: I was born in Walla Walla, Washington. The old joke was that they loved the town so much they named it twice!
Q: What is it like being a teacher?
A: Being a teacher is so gratifying to me, because every day brings new rewards and challenges. It’s become something of a cliche that “teachers learn as much from their students as they teach to their students,” but that really is true. I feel so lucky to continue to have that experience with Cathedral Park Performing Arts program. Teaching theatre and performance is especially important in this age of technology, because it is live, personal and interactive.
Q: Where/what is the most unusual or surprising place/time you’ve ever performed?
A: I was an actor with the Montana Repertory Theatre, and our company performed “The Matchmaker” one year at the old Montana Territorial Prison in Deer Lodge. All of us agreed that the audience, (a captive audience, you could say), was the most appreciative that we encountered on the whole tour that year.
